Who am I?
First of all, welcome to my website! My name is Cody. I’m a 30-something gaming enthusiast. I have been gaming since I was a tiny child. My first game was Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, but my mom claims that I used to sit on her lap as a baby and smash buttons while she played Tetris and the original Super Mario Bros. I think that gives me some kind of gamer street cred. Maybe not, but it’s still funny. The early adoption of gaming as a hobby has crafted me into the person I am today, and since the early 90s, I’ve been on hundreds, if not thousands, of digital adventures and made friends across many narratives. Gaming has also provided me opportunities to socialize and make lasting relationships in the real world as well.
A little about my gaming styles – I’m not a purist by any means. I will play almost any game on any system as long as it is fun and engaging. That’s not to say I do not have favorites though – I’m a Playstation boy through and through and will throw myself in front of a train for Final Fantasy and Resident Evil. That’s a little extreme…I probably won’t throw myself in front of a train, but you get what I mean. I sway towards playing JRPGs and Survival Horror games, but a nice platformer or FPS is always welcome. I’m a recovering MMORPG addict and this blog is one of my attempts to sway those urges and get some work done on my ridiculously large backlog (which is also a constant work in progress).
Aside from gaming, I have varied interests. I’m a huge fan of horror and thriller films. Scream is an all-time favorite. My #1 movie of all time is The Fifth Element. It’s a cheesy sci-fi classic that just makes me feel good to watch. I’m addicted to carbonated drinks and probably consume way too much seltzer water. I was an active musician in my past life and hope that once I get my groove back, I’ll be comfortable sharing some of my own renditions of my favorite gaming songs. I’m happily partnered with my boyfriend Adam. We like to be silly together and share a passion for gaming and languages. I also love animals (except for snakes and spiders), but alas I have no pets…for now.
